The first-ever ATP Ang Pow Cup marks a special milestone for the ATP pickleball community. Created to celebrate Chinese New Year through sport, competition, and connection, this inaugural edition brings together players from across Johor and beyond for a full day of high-energy pickleball at ATP Club’s premium indoor courts.

Tournament Categories

🧧 Men’s Doubles – Combined DUPR < 7.0 (Max 40 Teams)

🧧 Women’s Doubles – Combined DUPR < 7.0 (Max 24 Teams)

🧧 Mixed Doubles – Combined DUPR < 7.0 (Max 40 Teams)

🧧 Veteran Open Gender Doubles – Open DUPR (Max 24 Teams)

• Open gender format (MM / MF / FF allowed)

• Combined age minimum: 95 years

• Minimum age per player: 45 years

Governing Rules

• The tournament shall be governed by the USA Pickleball Official Rulebook.

• Any disputes, interpretations, or matters not expressly covered shall be decided by the Tournament Committee, whose decision is final and binding.

Participation Rules

• Veteran Open Gender Doubles participants are NOT allowed to compete in any other category due to schedule and time-clash considerations.

• Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles participants may compete in more than one category.

• The Organiser will not be responsible for match clashes arising from multi-category participation.

• In the event of overlapping match times, players must choose one match only.

• The other match will be recorded as a walkover.

Eligibility & DUPR Verification

• DUPR ratings will be verified prior to the tournament.

• The DUPR rating at the time of registration shall be used for eligibility verification.

• Participants without a valid DUPR rating (NR) will be automatically considered as 3.495

• Flexibility of 0.001 rating is allowed

• Subsequent changes to a player’s DUPR rating will not be considered.

• Players found exceeding category limits may be disqualified without refund.

• All eligible match results may be submitted to DUPR.

Tournament Format & Scoring

🔹 Scoring System

• Rally Scoring

• No deuce (Sudden Death)

🔹 Match Format

Group Stage (Round Robin):

• 1 game to 15 points

R16 to Quarterfinals:

• 1 game to 15 points

3rd / 4th Place Match:

• Best of 3 games

• Each game to 11 points

Finals:

• Best of 3 games

• Each game to 11 points

➡️ Top 2 teams from each group advance to knockout rounds

➡️ Format adjustments may be made based on participation numbers

Tie-Breaking Criteria (Group Stage)

If two or more teams are tied:

1. Total Point Difference in All Group Matches

2. Total Points Scored

3. Head-to-Head Result 

Match Regulations

🔹 Check-In, Punctuality & Walkovers

• Players must check in at least 30 minutes before their first scheduled match.
• A 10-minute grace period applies
• Teams failing to appear after the grace period will forfeit the match and a walkover will be awarded.

🔹 Medical Timeout

• One 15-minute injury timeout allowed

• Inability to continue will be considered a forfeit

Equipment Requirements

Paddles

• No restriction on paddle brands or models.

• Players are responsible for ensuring paddles are safe and suitable for play.

Tournament Balls

• Official tournament ball: Franklin X-40

• Subject to change if out of stock.

• Any change will be announced prior to match play.

Partner Replacement (Doubles)

• Allowed before first match only

• Replacement must meet category eligibility

• Subject to Tournament Director approval

• Changes affecting seeding may be rejected

Registration & Deadline

• Registration is first-come, first-served.

• Registration is confirmed only upon full payment

• Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, except if the tournament is cancelled by the Organiser.

• The Organiser reserves the right to close registration once a category reaches full capacity.

• Partner changes are not permitted after the draw is finalised, unless approved by the Organiser and before the team’s first match.

• Full refund only if category is cancelled

Code of Conduct

All participants must:

• Display good sportsmanship at all times

• Respect opponents, referees, officials, and volunteers

• Refrain from abusive language, aggression, or unsportsmanlike behaviour

• The Organiser reserves the right to issue warnings, impose penalties, or disqualify players for misconduct.

Health, Safety & Liability

• Participants compete at their own risk.

• Players are responsible for ensuring they are physically and medically fit to compete.

• The Organiser, venue, and sponsors shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage sustained before, during, or after the event.

• Players must immediately withdraw if instructed by tournament officials or medical personnel.

Prizes & Participation Threshold

• Prize distribution is subject to minimum participation numbers.

• If a category receives less than 50% of its intended entries, prize amounts may be adjusted accordingly.

• All prize decisions by the Organiser are final.

Disputes & Appeals

• Any disputes must be raised immediately during the match.

• Only disputes involving scoring or rule interpretation will be considered.

• No retrospective appeals will be entertained once the match or round has concluded.

Media, Photography & Data

• By participating, players consent to the use of their photos, videos, names, and likenesses for promotional and marketing purposes by ATP Club.

• Personal data collected will be used solely for tournament administration, communication, and record-keeping.

The Organiser reserves the right to amend, modify, or terminate the tournament or its Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. All decisions by the Organiser are final and binding.
