The Alliance Bank Penang Open Pickleball Championship 2025 is set to take place in Pulau Pinang with the mission of promoting pickleball, fostering community participation, and creating a competitive yet enjoyable environment for players of all levels.

1. Tournament Details
Date: 3rd – 5th October 2025
Venue: Pickle Land, D’Piazza Mall, Jalan Mahsuri, Bayan Baru, 11900 Penang, Malaysia

2. Event Categories & Format
• Team Event - Max 24 teams
• Novice Men's Doubles (19+) – Max 36 pairs
• Novice Mixed Doubles (19+) – Max 36 pairs
• Open Men’s Doubles (19+) – Max 32 pairs
• Open Women’s Doubles (19+) – Max 32 pairs
• Open Mixed Doubles (19+) – Max 32 pairs
• Open Veteran’s Doubles (50+) – Max 24 pairs
• Open Men’s Singles (19+) – Max 32 players
• Intermediate Men’s Doubles (19+) – Max 36 pairs
• Intermediate Women’s Doubles (19+) – Max 36 pairs
• Intermediate Mixed Doubles (19+) – Max 36 pairs
• Intermediate Men’s Singles (19+) – Max 36 players

Intermediate eligibility: DUPR rating ≤ 3.6 at time of registration
Novice eligibility: DUPR rating ≤ 3.0 at time of registration

3. Registration Fees
• Team Event: RM 1,200/team
• Open Doubles: RM 288/pair
• Intermediate Doubles: RM 258/pair
• Novice Doubles: RM 258/pair
• Veteran Doubles: RM 258/pair
• Open Singles: RM 150/player
• Intermediate Singles: RM 130/player

4. Prize Pool
Team Event
• Champion: RM10,000 + Protech Paddles
• 2nd Place: RM5,000 + Protech Bags
• 3rd Place: RM2,500 + Protech XP40 Balls
• 4th Place: Medal

Doubles – Open
• Champion: RM4,000 + Protech Paddles
• 2nd Place: RM2,000 + Protech Bags
• 3rd Place: RM1,000 + Protech XP40 Balls
• 4th Place: Medal

Doubles – Nivice, Intermediate & Veteran
• Champion: RM2,000 + Protech Paddles
• 2nd Place: RM1,000 + Protech Bags
• 3rd Place: RM600 + Protech XP40 Balls
• 4th Place: Medal

Singles – Open
• Champion: RM3,000 + Protech Paddle
• 2nd Place: RM1,200 + Protech Bag
• 3rd Place: RM800 + Protech XP40 Balls
• 4th Place: Medal

Singles – Intermediate
• Champion: RM1,500 + Protech Paddle
• 2nd Place: RM800 + Protech Bag
• 3rd Place: RM500 + Protech XP40 Balls
• 4th Place: Medal

5. Eligibility & Participation Rules
✔ Age 19 and above
✔ Active DUPR rating required
✔ IC/Passport verification at registration
✔ Intermediate categories limited to DUPR ≤ 3.6 (proof required)
✔ Novice categories limited to DUPR ≤ 3.0 (proof required). Players who have achieved podium finishes in major pickleball tournaments are not eligible to participate, even if competing with new partners.
✔ Registration confirmed upon full payment
✔ Organizers reserve the right to amend details

6. Competition Format & Scoring
General Rules
• Group stage: Round-robin
• Knockout stage: R16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals & Finals
• USAPA rules apply
• Seeding based on DUPR or random draw
• Players call their own lines; umpires officiate semifinals & finals

Scoring System
Singles (Open & Intermediate)
• Round-robin & knockouts: 1 game to 21 rally points (no deuce)
• Finals & 3rd place: 1 game to 15 (traditional scoring, start at 0-0-2)

Doubles (Novice, Intermediate & Veteran)
• Round-robin & knockouts: 1 game to 21 rally points (no deuce)
• Finals & 3rd place: 1 game to 15 (traditional scoring, start at 0-0-2)

Doubles (Men’s, Women’s, Mixed Open)
• Round-robin & knockouts: 1 game to 21 rally points (no deuce)
• Semifinals: 1 game to 11 (traditional scoring, start at 0-0-2)
• Finals & 3rd place: 1 game to 15 (traditional scoring, start at 0-0-2)

Team Event
• All matches: 1 game to 21 rally points (no deuce)

7. Match Regulations
Warm-Up & Walkovers
• Warm-up: 2 minutes before match
• Match start: within 3 minutes of call
• 10-minute grace period → beyond that = walkover

Medical Timeouts
• Max 15 minutes (evaluation included)
• If unfit to continue → forfeit

8. Venue & Facilities
• 9 tournament-grade courts
• Washrooms, seating, and first aid available
• Ample parking and spectator access

9. Registration & Deadline
• Register via sportssync.asia
• Closing Date: 26th September 2025 or until full
• Cancellation Policy:
• No refunds after payment
• If participation is less than 50% of max capacity → category cancelled, full refund issued
• If above 50% but not full → category proceeds with 50% reduced prize pool

10. Rules & Equipment
• USAPA rules enforced
• Paddles must meet USAPA & UPA-A standards
• Official ball: Protech XP40 (substitutes if necessary)
• Attire must not conflict with ball color

12. No-Show Policy
Players arriving later than 10 minutes may forfeit their match by walkover and risk suspension from future tournaments.
